I Hate Facebook

You are here: Home » Social Media » I Hate Facebook

Why do I hate Facebook? The ridiculous, time-wasting applications, that’s why.

I wasn’t particularly interested in signing up to Facebook originally, but since all my friends were on it I gave it a go. I could see the appeal too, don’t get me wrong; connect with old friends, share photos, etc. Unfortunately, this has got completely overshadowed by people throwing snowballs at each other and finding stray cats on their farm. I began to hate Facebook a while ago, but now it’s got to the point where I won’t use it. Rather than rant any further, I’ll let the following pictures speak for themselves…

I’ve blanked out the faces/names, as you can probably tell.

The above pictures were all wasting space in my “live feed” after just logging in. I used to go onto Facebook occasionally to see what my friends were saying, but now I’m not going to bother. Plus, if I don’t speak to someone in “real life”, then the chances are I don’t really class them as a “friend” and thus won’t be miss their company.

I’m sure some applications are very fun, but to me it just makes Facebook look awful and tacky, and actually makes me want to stay away from it.

I hate Facebook.

you do know you can block any app from showing in your feed with one click on the right of any notification from an app?

Yeah someone mentioned that to me, but I’m sure more would just pop up and I can’t be bothered blocking one every time I see it.

My hatred for Facebook goes beyond the applications really, as the status updates that people do are generally just as pointless (they tend to be a little more constructive on Twitter).

what i;ve discovered is that once you block many of the most popular ones, very few new ones crop up. most ppl, after the initial craziness of throwing snowballs at ppl seem to resort to farmville, mafia wars and bejewelled the most.

alternatively if you are seeing this from a group of certain ppl (those who play every game / app on there ) then take them out of the feed as well, or have a list of ppl you want to follow all the time and just use that, really makes a difference.

What he said!

Great blog nicely puts exactly how Facebook increasingly makes me feel.

Not that I think I will ever use Facebook that much in the future because of this surely they ought to implement a feature where oyu can just shut off all info about third party apps, period?

Oh well the web is a big old place and there are better places to go than Facebook!

Widely available on the facebook application that we can use for various purposes. We are free to choose and block so as not to disturb our comfort. Facebook actually provides many benefits for us, ranging from social media, gaming, business, and promotion of blogs as I often do.

Huge facebook hater here.

I agree it is a nice way to share photos, but i am not eager to see pictures of people all the time and I am definitely not eager for people to see me. Especially when most of these people I have not seen for 6-7 years.

People are too busy living in the past or wasting their time on these games.

Enjoy the moment, get outside…

Facebook is good for me as I can connect with my classmates after 5 years leaving school… yes, the app problems happen to everyone. I just ignore any invitations for any apps and move on.

[...] But one thing that seems to get said to me at least time and time again is that when people have tried Twitter they just don’t get it. And in some ways it is not a surprise, Twitter requires a bit more work than sites like Facebook and Myspace and is less intuitive that either. I am not going to explain the differences between Facebook and Twitter as a blog here does a great job of that, or tell you why Facebook really sucks (from the same blog). [...]
