I’ve had an account on Yahoo Meme for roughly a week now, so I thought I’d add my thoughts on what it’s like. At first it seemed quite interesting; “the ability to post images, videos and longer messages, this really could be a rival to Twitter” – right? Wrong. The initial comparisons I’ve read do seem to suggest Meme has been launched as a rival to Twitter, but in fact it is more like MySpace.

A newly found ‘hack’ is doing it’s rounds on blogs, forums and social networking websites today. The trick involves altering the URL slightly on a Google search to retrieve so-called “real-time” results. You can tailor the results to be to a specific time frame, but is it really real-time?

I’m now back in work after a great weekend which involved travelling up to Leeds for the Think Visibility conference. It was a great venue (albeit a little tempting being in a casino!), there were some fantastic speakers and it was good to finally meet some people I had spoken to online over the last few months. I just thought I’d do a quick roundup of each of the talks I attended while I was there.

OK it may be a bit of a blanket statement, but it seems a lot of web designers are trying their hand at SEO, and doing it badly. Many tips on the Internet encourage web designers to begin the optimisation process from the ground up, and this can be a great process… if done correctly. I’ve decided to list a couple of SEO techniques that I’ve come across over the last few months. These techniques have been implemented by web designers as part of a search engine optimisation service on client websites.

If you check Google today you may notice things are a little different. Keeping with the simplistic look, Google have increased the size of the seach box, along with the text when you type (including suggestions). The latest post on the Google blog explains that the small changes symbolise their focus on search, and should help users to view queries much more clearly.
